De Concertzender: een vrijplaats voor de muziek en zijn liefhebbers Een groep muziekliefhebbers deelde de sterk gevoelde urgentie om een vrijplaats te creëren waar alles draait om de muziek, muziek en musici het hoogste woord hebben, muziek in (bijna) al zijn facetten beluisterd kan worden zoals die bedoeld is, geen grenzen getrokken worden tussen genres en stijlen, bijna elke muziekliefhebber aan zijn trekken komt en geen concessies aan niet-muzikale nevendoelen gedaan hoeven te worden. Dat leidde eind 1982 tot de oprichting van radiostation de Concertzender, omdat het medium radio de mooiste optie was om zo’n plek te realiseren.

Vukani Community Radio is based in Cala and Komani (Queenstown). It was established in 1993 by Cala University Students Association (CALUSA) and broadcasted for the first time on 09 April 2006. Due to legal requirements CALUSA had to transfer Vukani authority to the community through a community elected structure, the Board. We broadcast in Chris Hani District in the Eastern Cape. Vukani Fm has three frequencies 90.6 - 98.4 - 99.9. Targeting general listeners of all ages. These frequencies enable us to reach: Cala, Elliot, Cacadu, Molteno, Dordrecht, Komani, Ilinge, Sterkstroom, Tarkastad, Cradock, Middelburg, Engcobo, Ugie, Mthatha, Stutterheim, Sterkspruit, King Williams Town, Cathcart, Butterworth, Dutywa, Tsolo, Maclear, James Town and various other towns within the Eastern Cape Province.
